“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:7-11)
Each day I am blessed as Jesus continues to take care of my needs and the needs of others. Just yesterday, I was praying asking Jesus to bring people to me as I’m riding my bike so I can minister to them. That evening I was out for a bike ride and I met Eva an elderly lady at the local farmer’s market in Ocean Beach. She had been homeless for many years and she had a sign asking for money to help her. I reached over to chat with her and asked her if she knew about Jesus. She said, “Who?” Again, I said “Jesus, the son of God who died for our sins…” “Oh, Jesus!” “Yes I know about him,” she said. I ask her if she knew him personally and she shrugged her shoulders. I asked Eva if I could pray with her so she could come to know him personally. She agreed. I prayed the salvation prayer with Eva and told her Jesus loves her and will take care of her if she prayed every day for his guidance. Please pray for Eva and the homeless.
On my way home from the market, I was riding up the alley back home. I met Jimmy who was a homeless man who I’d had met weeks ago. He went on a trip to Oregon and I wanted to pray with him for a very important court case he had coming up on April 18th! I didn’t get the opportunity but the Lord gave me another chance! With Jesus there are no coincidences! I stopped and chatted with him and again he told me about the court case coming up the next morning. I asked him if I could pray for him for favor with the judge and that he would be set free of any charges.
Larry, a man whom I met while cycling home from the IB market last Friday told me about how Jesus works in his life daily.
“after I prayed with you I was going to get a soft drink after my bike ride. I am on a diet and after praying with you I did not want the diet drink. I am not really supposed to have it anyway. Sunday I was working on my motorcycle and I need a special size washer for a pin that has a cotter pin holding it. I go out every Sunday to get my wife of almost 50 yrs, pancakes at McDonald’s. I call it my yearly, every weekend Mother’s day! I love her so much and I always get her the daily news paper she likes to read. There is a Dixeline store in the same complex, so I went there looking for the one washer I needed. They had every size but the one I needed. I left the store and walking toward Mc Donald’s, I looked down at the road! Amazingly there was a single washer laying there exactly the size I needed! I picked it up and got my wife’s pancakes and went home. I put the washer on my motorcycle to finish my project. It was the perfect size! I’ve had this type of thing happen a lot. God is good and he has his ways to show us we are being taken care of when you believe in him. Just like he brought me back when I flat lined during my operation. It was not my time as he has plans for me. Larry”‘ Read Larry’s full testimony here: https://cycling4jesus.wordpress.com/2014/04/15/glory-to-god/
Sometimes we can forget how much Jesus loves us and take for granted the little things he does for us. Without a born again relationship with him we can’t know the blessings God will bestow upon us. I’ve heard how some people pray for a particular item they wanted (ie. car, boat, etc.) and got upset because they didn’t get that answer to prayer! When in a relationship with Jesus he “works in ways we don’t understand” and many times we are praying for the wrong things! That is why I also pray in my spiritual language, tongues (spiritual gift) and although I don’t know exactly what I’m praying for, I pray in “mystery”, (I Corinthians 14:2) the Holy Spirit intercedes for me.” The Apostle Paul mentions in Corinthians 14:5, “I wish you all spoke with tongues…” and that we should be “zealous for the spiritual gifts” for the “edification of the church”. (I Corinthians 14:12)
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Roman 8:26-27) NKJV
“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.” (I Corinthians 14:14) NKJV
“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. (I Corinthians 14:1-2) NKJV
We can trust God daily with our very lives and he will provide what “we need according to his riches and glory!”
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) NKJV
For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:32-34) NKJV
