One evening, I was walking along Imperial beach, close to where I have been staying for the past few months. I got as far as the pier when I saw a man along the sea wall with 2 large white birds on his shoulders. I was drawn to him since I was fascinated by large birds, particularly the wild parrots I have seen flying about freely.
His name was Johnny and he is known as the bird man around these parts. He introduced his two companion white cockatoos to me and allowed me to pet one. He told me how they helped him through a difficult time in his life and they were the closest thing he had to family. I was intrigued by his love for his birds.
He also gave me samples of a organic drink which were nearly expired but unopened. He had received boxes of this drink from a local Costco and was just giving them away. “Here you can have these for free!” he said. This warmed my heart.
I had no money to give him but better yet, I told him about Jesus and was able to pray with him for salvation and healing for his back and for a relationship he was in that went bad. I encouraged him with scripture from the bible and spoke kind, gentle words to him about Jesus as the spirit led.
I mentioned I was playing gospel music at the pier every Friday afternoon during the farmers market and encouraged him to stop by to say hello! Please pray for Johnny.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (KJV)
