Spent the past long weekend in Ottawa after travelling about 55 km from Quyon, Quebec. Stopped in Alymer for a light lunch and break at a small outdoor cafe that served organic coffee and provided free cold water in a pitcher for cyclists. My answer to Starbucks!
I journeyed on and took the Voyager paved trailway along the Ottawa river to downtown Ottawa. Very scenic and full of twists and turns, the paved trail was bustling with cyclists from every direction!
I lodged at the University of Ottawa student residence for the weekend for a mere $35 a night. It offered a small private room with plenty of storage and a window for fresh air and a single bed with toiletries. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. There was a communal living room with HD cable on a large 52″ LCD screen. There was also a small kitchen facility that you shared with access to a fridge to keep your groceries. All and all a great stay.
With a couple days of rest and relaxation ahead of me, I did some sight seeing.
Parliament buildings are a huge attraction.
