I received a warm greeting when I arrived to Bancroft. Art Kelly picked me up and drove me out to their new remote home 10 km outside Bancroft. When I arrived I was taken in by the beauty and tranquil surroundings…
Art and Mary’s home was everything I read about from their blog and more. It was totally self sustaining, off grid, solar powered home. Carefully designed and well thought out. There is enough wood on the property to last them a life time! The floors are even heated!
Delicious meals everyday. Home made and nutritious! Mmmmmh! Thanks Mary.
Here’s Art baking Mary’s pizza in his ceramic barbecue.
Mary and Art have some capon chickens she is raising from chicks. They’re are growing bigger each day. Mary feeds them a combination of greens, grain, worms, etc.
Art spends much of his time still clearing and landscaping the property on his Cat. It’s a full time job!
I picked a wild edible fruit like plant called strawberry blight that was growing wild around the house. Mary made tasty jam like treat that we added to our pancakes and used on our toast. Mmmmmh!
Mary and Art’s organic garden.
Every home has a pest! This squirrel is determined and has Art’s system beat. He is a real acrobat!
Thank you Art and Mary for a great stay! Check out their blog: http://a-minbancroft.blogspot.ca
