Bible scriptures to know

Scriptures to meditate on:

We are all sinners and unless we get saved we will die.
(Romans 3:23)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 6:23)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus Christ is the son of God and God`s plan for all of us to receive eternal life.
(John 3:16)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 14:6)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Faith and Prayer
(Matthew 21:21-22)
21 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (NIV)

We must strive to enter God’s Sabbath-rest each day as he guides us each day.
(Hebrews 4:7-9)
7 Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts.
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He [God] would not speak afterward about another day.
9 So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God;

Baptism of the Holy Spirit
(Luke 3:16)
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
(Acts 2:1-4)
1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

We need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to be an effective witness for ministry.
(Acts 1:8)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV)
(Mark 16:16-18)
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (NKJV)
(John 4:48)
48 Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.” (NIV)
(Romans 8:26)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
(Galatians 5:16)
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
(Joel 2:28-29)
28 “ And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days. (NKJV)

Not all Christians receive the power of the Holy Spirit when they believe.
(Acts 8:15-16)
15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. (NIV)

The initial evidence of a believer receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.
(Acts 2:4; 11:15-16)
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (NIV)
15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered what the Lord had said: ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ (NIV)
(Mark 16:16-17)
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; (NKJV)

Salvation cannot be bought with money. It is a gift of God so no one can boast.
(Acts 8:20-23)
20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
